We’ve looked at how to upgrade your fonts site-wide, but what if you just want to spruce up your blog header or shop banner? In many cases just using a more bespoke font in that one spot at the top of your page can elevate the look of your whole site. With that in mind I’ve gathered up ten of my favourite free fonts (links to each below the graphic).
- Sail. By Latinotype. A really delicious-looking, fat script font.
- Mountain Retreat. By Andrew Clark. Hand-drawn look.
- Moderne Sans. By Marius Kempken. Classic.
- Gist Light. By Yellow Design Studio. I love how fresh-looking this font is, new and retro at the same time.
- Sofia. By Latinotype. Anyone remember Martha Stewart’s magazine Blueprint? This reminds me of the font they used, ‘Fling.’
- Ribbon. By Dan Gneiding. This one is actually ‘Pay What You Want’ for personal use but it’s well worth it.
- Lulo Outline. By Yellow Design Studio. You can use this one to create the layered effect you see at the top of the image in this post.
- St. Marie. By Stereotypes. The webfont license for this one is also free!
- Fabfelt. By Fabien Despinoy.
- Prosto. By Pavel Emelyanov. A strong sans serif font with a vintage look.
